INITIATIVES

  1. In my first 100 days, I will form an Ad Hoc Committee to review our existing bylaws line by line and make a report to the Steering Committee with recommendations for amendments that provide for transparency in our elections and endorsement processes, and that ensures our systems of accountability are practical and efficient. As President, I will recommend that the club adopt term limits for elected officers, strengthen our grievance procedures including the option of anonymous and online complaint filings, and that the findings of any grievance committee report be made public.
  2. The development of the Stonewall Cares Fund, a separate fund that members can contribute to that can be used toward solely philanthropic endeavors, particularly to aid and assist members of the LGBTQ+ community, particularly LGBTQ+ youth, that require legal, medical, or housing services, or suffer from food insecurity.
  3. 3. The formation of a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion task force made up of a diverse spectrum of the LGBTQ+ community that will compile data on our organization’s membership, identify race and equity blindspots, make good on a vote of the Steering Committee this year to facilitate training for members and steering committee members on DEI, and make recommendations to community and membership outreach for strategies and potential coalitions that will expand outreach to BIPOC and trans communities. The DEI task force may also elect to identify queer candidates in races and recommend them to the organization at large for our endorsement.
  4. Allocate funding for our Leadership Program and create one (1) steering committee position for each Department that allows for a direct pipeline from the program to active leadership in the organization in order to cultivate tomorrow’s leaders.
  5. Create and recruit members to the Stonewall Action Team, which will be composed of members interested in phone banking, attending in-person demonstrations, calling Members of Congress, and writing letters-to-the-editor in response to pressing matters of political concern.
