Alex Mohajer for State Senate Campaign Announces Additional Endorsements

January 18, 2024

Alex Mohajer announced on Thursday more endorsements in his campaign for California State Senate in Orange County’s 37th Senate District from the Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund and the Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans.

The endorsements reflect further national and statewide endorsements from environmental advocacy organizations and public affairs advocacy organizations fighting for democracy for Iran and for Iranian Americans.

“I am fighting for bold climate action and to be a representative for the Iranian American community here at home,” said Mohajer in a statement. “The large diaspora of Iranian Americans here in California deserve a representative in the legislature, especially as we march onward in our fight for democracy in Iran. And climate change is an existential crisis that faces us all. We need bold climate solutions and an advocate for marginalized groups in Sacramento.”

Mohajer is the only candidate in his race, Democrat or Republican, to pledge to refuse fossil fuel donations, and is the only candidate in his race to call for a ceasefire in Gaza. He announced in March of last year that he would be running to replace outgoing Senator Dave Min in the State Senate.

The primary election is March 5th, and Mohajer has run a strong grassroots campaign that has raised nearly $200,000 and has earned endorsements from across Orange County, the state, and the country. They include:

  • California Working Families Party
  • Irvine Mayor Farrah Khan
  • Aliso Viejo Mayor Richard Hurt
  • Sunrise Movement
  • Chispa
  • OC Action
