It’s Election Day! Thank you from the bottom of my heart

I wanted to drop you all a note and say thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

A year ago, when I announced I was going to run for CA State Senate here in my hometown of Irvine, I was motivated by the inaction on climate, homelessness, and the cost of living, healthcare, and housing. I saw attacks on the LGBTQ+ community across the state and country and an Iranian community in mourning. I saw a Democratic supermajority in the state that, regrettably, takes too much money from the same special interests holding us back from meaningful progress. I knew something needed to change.

People said it would be impossible for an upstart first-time candidate to mount a successful campaign for the CA State Senate. Today, nearly one year to the day that we launched, we have done more than run a campaign, we have built a vibrant movement that crisscrossed Orange County and spoke to the heart of the issues that affect everyday people.

BY THE NUMBERS: Our campaign has raised more than $205,000, knocked on more than 22,000 doors, delivered more than 183,000 pieces of mail, sent 200,000 text messages, made nearly 20,000 phone calls, dropped 7 digital media ads, and put up 2 billboards. We have earned endorsements from progressive, climate, education, gun safety, pro-housing, Iranian, Latinx and AAPI groups, and even 2 local mayors.

And the truth is, we did this together. This campaign was never about me. It’s about what we can accomplish, together, when we speak with one voice and have the courage to try. I am so deeply proud of what we have accomplished and to be your voice. It is an honor that will stay with me for the rest of my life. No matter what happens in today’s Election, I am proud of what we accomplished and know that we have already won. Thank you for putting your trust me in.
