Mohajer’s hometown of Irvine is in the heart of the 37th Senate District, and his campaign is building momentum ahead of the March 5th Primary
IRVINE, CA — 38-year-old Irvine native and Democrat Alex Mohajer announced on Thursday that Irvine Mayor Farrah Khan has endorsed his campaign for California State Senate in Orange County’s 37th Senate District, the seat being vacated by outgoing Senator Dave Min.
“Having a representative who understands our city is important. Alex is the product of our wonderful public school system and an example of what is possible for our young, diverse students growing up here,” said Mayor Khan in a statement. “He will make Irvine proud in the State Senate.”
Irvine is the only city with its entire border in the 37th Senate District and represents more than a third of the district, which includes portions of Tustin, Costa Mesa, Fullerton, Placentia, Orange, Laguna Woods, Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest, Aliso Viejo, and Trabuco Canyon.
“Earning this endorsement is touching on many levels, but primarily because I love this city and it gave me and my family so much,” said Mohajer in a statement. “My mom immigrated here from Iran to give her kids the opportunities that she didn’t have, and it was the fantastic public K-12, community college, and arts education that I received here that set me up for success in my life. To earn the endorsement of my hometown Mayor means a lot to me.”
Mayor Khan joins Aliso Viejo Mayor Richard Hurt in a growing movement supporting his grassroots campaign. The campaign, which launched in March of this year, has been building momentum and galvanizing voters ahead of the March 5th, 2024 Presidential Primary election.
He has earned support from community groups, college students, and Democratic clubs across the County. Among his recent endorsements are: Run for Something, Sunrise Movement – Orange County, Progressive Democrats of America – OC, OC Action, Chispa, College Democrats of Cal State Fullerton, Southern California Armenian Democrats, CA Democratic Renters Council, Iranian American Democrats of California, Safer California, Stonewall Democrats, and he recently won a straw polls at Irvine Democratic Club and Laguna Woods Democratic Club, the largest Democratic club in Orange County.
